In 2006 the Fresno County Board of Supervisors voted to contract an auditor to audit the Fresno County Jail System, unfortunatley to their dislikening, the auditor did not recommend a massive 700 million dollar jail expansion project. Instead they recommended althernatives to incarceration and gave the board a point by point status of their operations and where to make adjustments. Upset by this report, the board is still is posturing for their expansion project, and in winter of
2008 the board moved to review the land availability, of the Crocker Building on Fresno St. Even though plans continue to be on hold, they are still hopeful to move forward on this projetct.

By 2040, the County of Fresno will have 1,400 new beds for children – the largest juvenile jail in the U.S. This means Frenso County is building cages for children who haven’t even been born yet!
CPMP is working to stop the expansion of the Fresno Juvenile Jail Facility. The jail facility will cost California taxpayers 180.3 million dollars. The County is constructing this massive facility in four phases, two of which is already complete. But its not too late to stop the remaining phases – join CPMP in the fight struggle!
