Slowing Convictions in Los Angeles

CPMP was instrumental in launching the No New Jails Coalition in Los Angeles. NNJ successfully organized to defeat Prop. A, that would have added a thousand more police to the LAPD. Since then, NNJ has continued to work to oppose expansion of the LAPD and the LA County Jail system and to oppose police sweeps, saturation policing and ICE raids in LA's Skid Row, Pico-Union and in South and East LA.

We work with groups like FACTS and Drug Policy Alliance to bring political education workshops about the real dangers of prison expansion to places like San Diego, Orange, Ontario and LA.

We help to edit and publish LA Prison Times, a newspaper that reflects the many faces of dynamic So Cal anti-prison activism.
